Bali Weather
Blessed with a typical tropical climate, Bali weather enjoys very hot and sunny temperatures, only varying a few degrees from an average of 31°C. The wet season is typically from October through March, bringing cloudy days, high humidity, and heavy showers most afternoons for a half-hour to an hour. Cyclones and tidal surges can also occur during the wet season. The remainder of the year is the dry season, with low humidity, little precipitation, and balmy sea breezes. Rainfall during the dry season is usually only at night or in the early morning. Due to its proximity to the equator, there is always around twelve hours of daylight, from about 6 am to 6 pm.
June through September is the best time to visit, with hot, dry weather tempered by cooling ocean breezes. December, January, and February are the rainiest months. For surfers, the best waves are found on the western side of the peninsula in the months of May through October.
There are variations in climate around the island. Overall the weather is very hot, but in coastal areas the heat and humidity is tempered by sea breezes. However, as you move inland the increased elevations in the mountains cause a drop in temperature, and these higher regions can become quite chilly. Weather can vary dramatically over just a few kilometres, so while the northern slopes of Mount Batur may be constantly wet and misty, the nearby east coast is nearly always dry and sunny.
