Bali Bars & Pubs

Bali bars and pubs are a hip little piece of the after-dark scene in the lively beach communities of Kuta, Legian, and Seminyak, as well as more sophisticated Ubud.

Stroll down the rocking beach on long starlit nights and stop in at chummy establishments for a beer or an exotic tropical cocktail. Check out the live Gaelic music, traditional pub grub, and beers from around the world at Gracie Kelly’s in Kuta, Bali’s first authentic Irish pub. Seminyak’s Hu’u Bar is the ultimate westerner’s dream of an open-air Bali bar, with crowds of candles reflecting in a shimmering pool and incredible martinis. Stroll the strip from Kuta up to Seminyak and you’ll find countless little bars right on the beach, from casual ma and pa operations to sandy establishments like the Crystal Palace with great drinks and people-watching, and Champlung with cleverly decorated beach umbrellas lending a festive Indonesian flair. Juice Park and La Plancha are other barefoot bars.

Night owls in Ubud love the Beggar’s Roost, a British pub right in front of the Antonio Blanco Art Museum. Other casual bars in this cultural centre include the happening Sai Sai Bar on Monkey Forrest Road, the bar at Naughty Nuri’s, and the super-cool Jazz Cafe, featuring live jazz and gamelan music. See and be seen at old time jazzy favourite Ary’s Warung, where you can lounge on a couch street-side or enjoy slow dance music by the light of flickering candles. An intriguing cave bar atmosphere reminiscent of a temple interior creates an interesting backdrop for nightly music or movies at Prasa Bar.
