Enchanting Bali attractions are full of extraordinary sights, from stunning Hindu temples to traditional artistic villages to natural preserves.

Bali’s spectacular Hindu temples, peaceful retreats of stunning beauty, erupt into colourful chaos during major festivals. Mother of all temples is sprawling Besakih, perched on the slopes of Mount Agung, highest and most sacred peak on the island. Flanked by two rivers, the temple of Pura Samuan Tiga offers stunning architecture and spectacular views, and is the site of the oldest annual Balinese Hindu ritual, the elaborate mock Sampian war, held in April. Dazzling Uluwatu Temple overlooks dramatic ocean vistas from the dizzying heights of its cliff-top perch; sunset at Uluwatu is unforgettable.

Bali is a land of natural wonders and exotic flora and fauna. The Bali Botanical Gardens, deep in the heart of northern Bali, are situated in a mountainous jungle boasting over five hundred species of magnificent orchids and a huge population of brilliantly coloured bird tropical birds. Dedicated to preserving the wildlife of Indonesia, the Bali Zoo houses such exotic residents as giant crocodiles, Komodo dragons, tigers, apes, and kangaroos.

For a step back into Bali’s exotic past, visit village Batuan, where skilled artisans live in traditional compounds and practice the rituals and lifestyle of their ancestors. Elephant Cave is another fascinating historic site, dedicated to Lord Ganesha, the elephant-headed Hindu god of wisdom.

Several intriguing museums can be found throughout Bali, though most are in Ubud. Visit the Museum Rudana’s fine collection of classic and modern Balinese art, or experience the splendour of the Antonio Blanco Museum, a beautiful mansion and grounds dedicated to the artist and his works.
