Be aware that in the simpler, backpacker-style lodgings, there may be neither hot water nor air-conditioning, and bathrooms may be shared. On the very cheap end, and often only few minutes from the beach you’ll find quite a few hostel-style accommodations. Close to sea, sand, and sun, the Sinar Indah guest house is a classic South Bali bargain, with simple, serviceable rooms, hot water, and air-conditioning, all at incredible rates. Surrounded by great restaurants and white-hot nightlife, the Island Hotel is minutes from the incredible surf breaks of Double 6 beach, and features both double and dorm rooms, cafe, Wi-fi, rooftop bar, and infinity pool. A good deal for the price, the LA Inn Hotel provides basic lodging close to the non-stop action of Legian Beach surfing and nightlife. Somewhat more expensive, but an amazing bargain considering its smart, boutique ambience, Danny’s Homestay has seven clean, minimalist guestrooms, air-conditioning, complimentary breakfast, and a lovely pool.
