Luckily for Australian travellers, there are several airlines with cheap flights to Bali’s Denpasar International Airport. With direct flight time of about and two-and-half hours, Darwin is the closest Australian city to Bali and hence has the cheapest fares. Direct flights are also available from Adelaide, Auckland, Brisbane, Cairns, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney via Qantas, Virgin Australia, Jetstar and Garuda Indonesia.

Several carriers service the routes from Australian cities to Bali. Garuda Indonesia is the national carrier of Indonesia, and flies both domestic routes within Indonesia and international routes. Nicknamed the “Flying Kangaroo”, Qantas is the flagship carrier of Australia, and Jetstar Airways is its low-cost subsidiary. Formerly Virgin Blue Airlines, Virgin Australia is Australia’s second-largest airline. Flight times from Australia vary quite a bit depending on the cit. A little over three hours away by air, Perth is a major source of flights to Bali, with plentiful carrier choices, flight times and cheap fares. Direct flights from Sydney and Brisbane are the longest, clocking in between seven and ten hours.

Flights are most crowded during the dry season from June through September, and school holiday months of July and August are the busiest. Cheapest fares are available during the wet season of October through March, when higher humidity and rainfall make less desirable weather. Rainiest months are December and January.
