Cheap Bali Accommodation
Cheap Bali accommodation is fantastic for those seeking an exotic tropical holiday for very little cash. In most mid-size towns you can find everything from dorm-style accommodations to guesthouses to budget hotels. When arriving in small villages, you will often be approached by villagers eager to negotiate a night or so at their home-stays or cottages. By using a few helpful strategies, you can find and enjoy some great cheap lodgings. Always lock your door or use a safe box and don’t commit to a long stay the first night; if lodgings have unforeseen problems such as a leaky roof, you’ll be able to move on with little fuss.
The very cheapest lodgings are the hostels, often dorm-style and with shared bathrooms. It’s useful to bring your own sheet here, but a sarong is acceptable. Slightly more costly are the home-stays or losmen, though with two to a room they may compare in price to some hostels. Breakfast is almost always included in budget accommodations and may include coffee, tea, fruit, eggs and island specialty banana pancakes.
Small budget hotels abound in the villages of the more touristy southern area of the island, and there are loads of them to be found down the little alleys of Kuta and Legian Beach. Some even have swimming pools, air conditioning and hot water, but always ask before signing in; and it’s a good idea to check and see if fans, electrical outlets, hot water and plumbing are in working order. Particularly in the central island, mosquito netting is a big plus.
